The Founder’s Story.

Jennifer Joy O’Grady’s passion is storytelling that is inspirational and effective.

I found my voice through storytelling, writing and performing, despite being a somewhat shy kid who yearned for adventure. Every movie or TV series I watched, I became a part of that world. I was no longer simply a viewer but a character within it. I realized how much film and media could truly impact people because movies have been impacting me my whole life. 

Once I discovered my passion for writing screenplays and directing along with acting, at that time I was unsure if women could be directors because I didn’t see many films directed by women. Despite the obstacles that come with a big dream, I knew I wanted to create stories and become characters that gave audiences an experience, making them feel they were not alone in whatever they were going through. Since then, I hope to give a voice to the voiceless by telling stories that need to be shared.

 I decided to pursue that passion, earning my B.A. in Cinema & Television (Screen Acting track) and Creative Writing. It wasn’t until a few years after graduating in 2011 and experiencing multiple set-backs, when I finally began taking leaps into creating my own projects. Along with multiple short films, I wrote, produced, directed, and acted in an eight-part episodic production, Saudade the Series. During the process and experience of bringing those projects to life is definitely where I learned the most.

 Through creating my own films and series, I discovered and gained new skills as a videographer, photographer and editor. I founded Open Door Film Productions in 2014 as a visual storytelling company, with the vision that freedom can be found through the lens: there is always a story to be told, a moment to capture and an audience to inspire. We develop, create, and produce multiple forms of narrative digital media. We offer professional cinematic productions capturing engaging banding content for clients, through commercials, marketing, branding, and live event videos and photography.
